Institute of Ecological Economics (IEE) in JXUFE is an interdisciplinary and comprehensive research institution, which is specially established for conforming to the construction of the first Demonstration Area of Ecological Civilization and National Ecological Civilization Test Zone in Jiangxi province. IEE is the key research base of philosophy and social science in Jiangxi province and the key research base of Humanities and Social Sciences in Jiangxi colleges and Universities. The current dean of IEE is Professor Zhang Liguo, who is the key talent in Jiangxi province, the leader of agricultural economics in Jiangxi Province and the doctoral supervisor in population, resources and environmental economics. IEE also called Institute of Ecological Civilization and Ecological Economy (IECEE). The dean of IECEE is Professor Liao Jinqiu, who is JXUFE’s Party Secretary and a doctoral supervisor.HistoryThe development of IEE dates back to 2002, which has undergone four phases:1) It was the school of Resource and Environmental management(founded in 2002) and the institute of Resource Science and Ecological Planning Project(founded in 2005); 2) It was merged and established the Institute of Source and Environmental Policies(founded in 2009); 3)It became Institute of Poyang Lake Eco-economics(founded in July 2010) ,which is taken the Institute of Source and Environmental Policies as the main body; added a brand of the Institute of Ecological Civilization and Ecological Economy in November 2012 (key research base of Jiangxi’s universities humanistic and social science, Co-ordinated offices ); Jiangxi Province Ecological Civilization system Construction Cooperative Innovation Center is affiliated with IPLE in November 2015; 4) Institute of Poyang Lake Eco-economics was renamed Institute of Ecological Economics in July 2017.Development PurposeTo practice JXUFE’s motto--Faith Astuteness Incorrupt Resolve, lead the trade of regional innovation and serve for national development strategy.Aim and TaskWe aim to serve the national green development strategy, carry out interdisciplinary collaborative innovation research, and to build distinctive high-level scientific research base, personnel training base, social service base and new think tank of green development. We rely on the advantages of economic management discipline resources, integrating the advanced forces of natural sciences and engineering disciplines, basing on interdisciplinary innovation team in Poyang Lake eco-economic region’s development study in JXUFE and the academic innovation team of the ecological economy and ecological civilization in JXUFE(Jinggang scholar special employment professor academic innovation team), basing on the major realistic problems of Jiangxi ecological civilization, the national ecological civilization construction of the test area and green rise in Jiangxi province.Management SystemWe implement school and hospital academic committee under the dual leadership of the president responsibility system and the responsibility system of the institute’s director and academic leaders in our institute.OrganizationUnder the three institute under the Institute, a joint office research institute and auxiliary organization, namely: Institute of rural & agro-ecological environment, Institute of resource & ecological environment, Institute of population & regional environment, Institute of Ecological Civilization and Ecological Economic (Co-ordinated offices), collage office, laboratory and reference room.Personnel StructureWe have 8 full-time researchers, 2 full-time administration staff, and 30 part-time researchers. Among full-time researchers, 1 expert was approved to receive the State Council special allowance; 1 researcher was the leading talent of the national million people plan of philosophy and Social Sciences; 1 researcher was selected for national cultural celebrities and first-tier scholar (theorists) by the Central Committee Publicity Department; 1 researcher was a national candidate of the New Century Talents Project by ministry of Human Resources and Social Security; 1 researcher was selected for New Century Talent Supporting Project by Ministry of National Education;1 researcher was a ”Jinggang scholar” distinguished Professor; 3 researchers were selected for Jiangxi-Poyang Talent 555 project by Jiangxi province; 1 researcher was approved to receive the special allowance of the people's Government of Jiangxi Province; 2 researchers were outstanding young and middle-age experts in social science of Jiangxi Province; 1 researcher was the leading talents in the philosophy and social sciences of universities in Jiangxi Province; 4 researchers were selected for New Century Talent Project by Jiangxi Province; 5 researchers were selected for young and middle-age academic leaders of Jiangxi universities; 1 training object of Jiangxi young scientists; 5 doctoral supervisors; 3 postdoctoral cooperation supervisors. Our researchers all have doctoral degree. Among them, there are 2 overseas returnees, 6 visiting scholars from foreign universities. Part-time researchers are mainly from key universities, scientific research institutes, government and state-owned enterprises.Work ConditionWe have independence offices over 800 square meters with beautiful surroundings and complete library resources; Its communication and electronic services are very convenience; We also have senior expert studio; chair professor studio; doctor oversea studio, mobile researcher studio, postgraduate studio, academic report hall, reference room, computer room, etc.Discipline PlatformOur discipline is more solid strength with Ph.D. of population, resources and environmental economics, master's degree of agricultural economic management. Our institute also has the high-level discipline in Jiangxi Province, Jinggang Scholar distinguished professor post disciplines and key one-level disciplines of Jiangxi Province during the 12th Five-Year Plan(Agriculture and Forestry Economics and Management). In 2013 our institute was approved as the key research base of philosophy and social science in Jiangxi Province. The research team of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone Development Research is the first group of interdisciplinary innovation team of Jiangxi University of Finance and the scientific research team of Ecological Economy and Ecological Civilization is an academic innovation team specially appointed by Jinggang Scholar of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. Moreover, the two open financing platforms were set up the important tendering project of the ecological economy of Poyang lake and the library of the research achievement of Poyang lake eco-economic research.Talents TrainingOur advanced specialized personnel training system is completed. Firstly, the postdoctoral researchers in Theoretical Economics are enrolled. We are responsible for the construction and enrollment of doctoral and master's degree programs in Economics of Population, Resources and Environment” and Master's Degree in “Agricultural Economics and Management”.Scientific ResearchOur researchersactively carry out basic theory and applied science research, which spans multiple disciplines of science, engineering, philosophy and social sciences with greater academic influence. We have presided over 90 key vertical research projects and the funds were over 15 million. We have presided over 23 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 20 projects from the National Social Science Foundation of China, 14 projects from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, 20 projects from the Humanities and Social Science Research of the Ministry of Education. Our institute has published more than 30 Chinese and English academic books and more than 200 papers in philosophy and social sciences (including SSCI and CSSCI journals) and in natural science and engineering (including SCI, EI and CSCD journals) , which have high impact factor in the field of academic journals. More than 20 scientific researches have awarded the provincial and ministerial level of Social Science Excellent Achievement Award and Science and Technology Outstanding Achievement Award. A consultation report was awarded Philosophy and Social Science University Excellent Consulting Report by the Ministry of Education and a book was awarded as Jiangxi outstanding theoretical achievement, which is the highest award in philosophy and social sciences in Jiangxi Province.Social ServicesOur institute undertakes more than 30 horizontal projects, which aim to serve local economic construction and have greater social influence. These projects were commissioned by the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the State Forestry Administration, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Forestry, Jiangxi Provincial People's Government Development Research Center, Jiangxi Province Development and Reform Commission, Jiangxi Provincial Ecological Civilization Construction Leading Group Office, Jiangxi provincial transportation department Jiangxi Province by the Ministry of Communications, the Office of Agricultural Utilization of Foreign Investment in Jiangxi Province, the Office of Foreign Capital Utilization in Urban Construction in Jiangxi Province, and other major international organizations, national research institutes, ministerial-level government departments, as well as local governments and state-owned large enterprises. The planning results have been converted into local development planning, which have played a good role.Think TankWetake the initiative to give full play to the function of new think tank and service party committee and government decision-making with greater decision-making influence. We have effectively transformed theoretical research and submitted more than 30 high-quality policy research reports, which were published in the “Achievement Report” of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee for Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning, Expert Advice of the Department of Social Science in Ministry of Education, “Important Report ”of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, internal forum of Jiangxi Federation of Social Sciences and special report of Jiangxi Provincial Academy of Social Sciences and other important internal publications. Our reports have been presented to the central and local government and have received more than 20 general instructions, which have promoted the implementation and improvement of relevant policies.The Foreign Cooperation and ExchangeWe have established collaborative innovation and academic cooperation relationship with famous universities in China and abroad and research institutes. We have carried out major projects with joint efforts, high-level talent cultivation and academic visits including Texas A&M University, ASU, Auburn University, University of Michigan, Rutgers University, Oxford University, Vienna University of Agricultural, Vienna University of Economics and Business, University of South Australia, Inha University, Chinese University of HK, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Renmin University of China, Zhongshan University, Beijing Normal University, Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University, Beijing Forestry University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing Forestry University, Northeast Agricultural University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Chinese Academy of Forestry Sciences.Major HonorsAmong the full-time researchers of IEE, 14 researchers were awarded the title of Top Ten Scientific Researchers and 4 researchers were awarded the Top 5 Scientific Research Young Researchers by JXUFE from 2010 to 2016. It was awarded the title of Advanced Unit, Advanced Unit of State Project Declaration and Organization and Excellent Unit respectively by JXUFE in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
